Vint Edge Decor

Living in Dubai for four years and visiting it for 10 years before that means I have been privileged enough to watch this city develop and grow.  The most exciting thing has been to see how creative entrepreneurs are adding their touch to this dynamic place I can call home.  Walking into Vint Edge Decor in Al Quoz I immediately felt inspired and began thinking of ways to redecorate our apartment by adding a few of her unique pieces (or even just painting one of our walls the same duck egg blue colour as her shop).  Belle and I spent ages browsing through her shelves and I know Belle felt it very difficult to stop herself from clicking away at all the stunning details.  One thing is for sure,  I am now even more obsessed with cheese boards and all the different things you can use them for.

What inspires you…

Finding or making something unique.  I’ve always worked in retail and there’s nothing more enjoyable than someone falling in love with an item that you have picked out or made yourself. I love design and handmade items so I’m keen on getting more bespoke items into the shop… watch this space.

One item in my shop that I love…

Probably any of my cushions! I have a cushion obsession, I love how they can transform a room so easily without having to do a major re-decoration, you can add a splash of color and warmth with the smallest of cushions.

One item from my own house that I love…

My framed photos, being away from home can be hard, so I love having pictures up of friends and family in the house.

Tea and cake…

On one of my first visits to Dubai I was taken the Burj Al Arab for afternoon tea which was truly special and hard to beat. I’ve just selected some vintage tea cups from the UK which I am bring into the shop, and I do make a mean cheesecake so the Burj could soon have some competition with my house!

I love Dubai because…

Apart from the amazing sunshine, it has to be the people. it’s amazing to meet so many people from around the world I love finding out about different cultures and traditions. Taking part in some the craft markets across Dubai I have met some lovely people, it has to been one of my favorite parts of the job.

My favourite destination…

I’ve just returned from Italy, and I’d forgotten how beautiful it was. I last visited 7 years ago with my fiance as our first holiday and its hardly changed. There is so much history, culture, and the people are amazing, I can’t wait to visit again and explore some more… and of course you can’t beat the gelato.
