Home Sweet Home – Hostessing

Posted on: October 15th, 2015 by Carolyn No Comments

Having a home in Dubai , means we are often hosts to family and friends who are en route to another destination , or who have come to see us and spend time with us.  I love having people in my home, so I really enjoy making our guests feel relaxed and at home. However, I know having guests can be a little overwhelming at times, especially since you have to keep your own routine going and some of us have very tight schedules to keep to.  We have put together a few tips on quick and easy ways to make your guests feel special and welcome.  These fun and simple tips are from ladies in Dubai who often have guests to stay in their homes and who always go that extra mile.

A very big thank you to Jo Cole Photography for photography the images styled by I am captivated.

Hostess 1…

Make up a comfy and inviting bed.

Find a few things for them to do that they will enjoy.

Make a reservation at a restaurant where you can make memories together over great food.

Greet them with a cold drink at the airport.

Make sure the cupboards and fridge are stocked with food they will enjoy.

Hostess 2…

Fresh flowers in their room and in my home.
Use attractive glass bottles of water rather than plastic bottles in their room.  Decant water into VOS bottles.
Fruit basket and chocolates and nuts.
If I find discounted slippers somewhere like IKEA I buy some and give my guests a pair.
All my guests know that they can make themselves at home and help themselves to coffee, tea, breakfast etc. I take them around showing them where everything is.
Take them on a tour of all the sights in Dubai.I am Captivated-33

Hostess 3…

I get them an entertainer book or vouchers for places I know they are wanting to visit.
I have a butlers tray with a traveling kettle and small teapot and cups in their room, so they are able to make their own tea and coffee at night or early in the morning. I buy 3 in one coffee & tea sachets so I don’t have to worry about milk.
I leave a bowl of fruit and some chocolates in their room. For strange hour hunger pangs!!
I buy/ get nice Dubai related magazines like Time Out, What’s On, Stylist (free from the Garages), Ahlan and put them on their bedside table.

I also have free vouchers to our local gym so that we can go to classes together.I am Captivated-34
